Obituary for Mark Foshee Jr.

Mark Foshee Jr.
Mark Foshee Jr, aka “Ace Boogie” was born on November 26, 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts and sadly departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. He was the handsome son of LaShana James and
Mark Foshee Sr.

From the start, Mark was a happy sensitive baby with a thick wooly head of hair and an infectious smile that always engulfed his face.

Mark began his formal elementary education at the Mather Elementary School from Kindergarten to second grade. He then entered the Lexington METCO program and attended the Harrington Elementary School from the third to the fifth grade. Mark insisted he wear an all white (favorite color) tuxedo for his fifth grade graduation. A wish his paternal grandmother Naomi was happy to grant. Mark attended the McCormick Middle School where he met his good friend Joshua Montgomery. He also attended the Jeremiah E. Burke High School and matriculated through the eleventh grade. Mark then decided to take his Hi-Set Exam without classes and passed on his first attempt. Mark was a very intelligent and would always come up with thought provoking questions. He was funny, insightful and often shared hilarious/colorful perspectives when in conversations, causing his mother to laugh and yell at him. He enjoyed sports and was quite the athlete often displaying his Nija like abilities with his good friend Anthony Holliday by climbing trees, light poles, doing flips, and scaling buildings. His favorite sport was football and he briefly played for his school team. From a little boy, Mark dreamed of becoming a surgical doctor and had begun making plans to attend Stratford School of Health Sciences or Roxbury Community College’s Nursing Program in efforts to pursue this dream. He was currently working at Dunkin Donuts part-time.

As a young teen, Mark looked forward to working in the summer.
He participated in Global Ministries Christian Church’s New Horizons youth program and accepted Christ at that time. He was also involved in the church’s Academy of Broadcasting in 2013 where he produced a mini video about the negative impact of gun violence.

He deeply loved his siblings Shaquille, Shi’yana and Tearah though he often fought with them. Growing up, he also shared a close relationship with his cousins Imari and D’jionna aka twin who was born one month after him. Mark also liked animals and loved little kids. He was excited about the birth of his seventh month old nephew Zayden, and he enjoyed holding, playing, or falling asleep with him during their visits.

Mark was always very sensitive but in his own way he carried the weight of the world and his family on his shoulders. Since mid adolescence Mark courageously struggled with depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Depression and PTSD is a disease of the mind, a mental health issue that distorts ones thinking. It must be properly treated or it becomes a silent killer. Our family has chosen to share the cause of Mark’s passing in hopes of helping someone else and bringing awareness to the increasing rate of suicide. In honor of Mark’s life and our hope that something positive will emerge from this devastating loss of our beloved “Markie”, we are sharing the enclosed resources for anyone who might be struggling with mental health and/or trauma.

Mark is survived by his, parents LaShana James and Mark Foshee Sr., one brother Shaquille Buckmire-James, two sisters Shi’yana James and Tearah Foshee; one nephew Zayden Buckmire-James, grandmother Naomi Foshee, grandfather Evan James, (Perline James), two uncles Keith Foshee, Damone Hamilton (Darilyn Gomez-Hamilton); four cousins Dakari Hamilton, D’jionna Hamilton, Isaiah Reeves, Imari Somers, three great aunts, Anita Hamilton, Barbara Hamilton, Marcella Reeves Roberts (Bernard Roberts), and a host of extended aunts (Rosie & Ada), cousins, relatives, friends and loved one (AlQuon Gilkes, Kenisha Dennis, and Yarasmary Rodriguez.) He was preceded in death by his grandmother Hermine Hamilton, uncle Conrad James, great grandmother Halima Musa Hamilton, great great grandparents Hermine & Eugene Boyd.

Please everybody dress in all-white. This is an all white affair. Mark really loved the color white. In conversations, plenty of times he stated, if he passes he would like everybody to attend in all-white. The family does ask if you do not have white to please wear grey in replacement.
Thank you in advance for your prayers & support.

There will be a Viewing on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 am at the Global Ministries Christian Church 670 Washington Street, Dorchester, MA 02124
