Barbara A. White, was born in Boston MA on April 01, 1957; daughter of the late Irene White and the late Joseph Briggs, Sr.
To send flowers in memory of Barbara Ann Nichols (White), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
She attended Boston Public Schools at the Dearborn School, Jeremiah E. Burke and Roxbury High School and graduated in the year of 1977. She attended Wilfred Academy Beauty School where she graduated and later received her license through the state of Massachusetts in Cosmetology.
In her youth, Barbara attended church along with her grandmother and family at Rehoboth Bethel Apostolic Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Raymond O. Murray. She sung in both the youth Choir and Young Adult Choir and was faithful in attending Sunday school. She often enjoyed attending Friday night services, a place where she would meet up with friends and family. During her time at the Benjamin House in Roxbury, she accepted Christ in her life once again, encouraged by a former resident who shared the same room with her. Barbara would read her bible on a daily basis and believed that God can do the impossible.
Barbara was employed at the Royce Shop for over 40 years and worked until her health no longer permitted her in doing so. She became a part of the Finkle family whom she loved dearly; they were not just her employer but her friend.
Barbara married the love of her life Preston Nichols who was her best friend and confidant; they were two peas in a pod who did everything together; over 25 years of a wonderful friendship and partnership.
Barbara’s favorite pastime was sewing, shopping, (my God) could she shop; she would shop until YOU dropped; because the more she shopped the more energy she got; and she enjoyed reading God’s word.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Irene White & Joseph Briggs Sr.; stepfather: Leon White; brother: Leon P. White; and grandparents David & Everlena Haynes.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Husband – Preston Nichols; (4) sisters: Constance Briggs, Cassandra Richardson, Jovaun Briggs, and Terry White; (3) brothers: Joseph Briggs, Jr., Eugene Briggs and Keith White; sisters-in-law: Karen Gray and Laura Nichols; brother-in-law: Alton Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews and remaining family members.
