Leota Geneva Roberts born on August 29, 1956 in Kansas City Mo. To the late Anna Louise Henderson and Booker T. Staten. Leota was called home suddenly on Christmas evening December 25, 2019 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Leota grew up in Kansas City Mo and sacrificed her education to help her mother raise her brothers and sisters. At some point her sisters relocated to Massachusetts and her mother went as well with Leota’s daughter Anna. Leota would later join her mother Anna Henderson in Brockton, Ma pregnant with Karen in 1978. During her life in Brockton she would go on to have a total of 5 daughters. Anna, Karen, Telissa, Dawn and Starr.

During her time in Brockton she was a stay at home mother however she was employed at the VA hospital in Brockton as a housekeeper for a short period of time.

Leota was a friendly and vivacious woman who easily made friends everywhere she went. Some of these friends would call her K.C. short for Kansas City. Her brother Charles and others in her family called her champ. Leota was always put together. You rarely saw her without her makeup done. (Karen reflects on a moment)…She always wore the latest fashions and was an avid music lover who enjoyed every genre of music from rock (Billy Idol) Soul (James Brown, Whitney Houston) RNB and the Blues.

As a mother she did the best she could with what she knew. She kept an immaculate home with style and flare with plenty to eat (I remember her sending me to the Arnone School to stand in line and get the free commodities)

Over her years on this earth she experienced many ups and downs. Although she wasn’t able to raise all her daughters under the same roof, family was important to her. She enjoyed the family dinners and cookouts to celebrate life. Her daughters each had their own individual relationships with Leota and through the years they became stronger. Her daughters will continue to maintain the relationships with one another and remember the woman Leota was while here.

Later in life she found love and companionship with Sid Fisher. During her time with her they relocated there life to Boston Ma and lived there for many years. She enjoyed living in Boston with Cid. She became part of that community and was involved in various agencies as a participant and a volunteer such as Rosie’s Place and Women’s Lunch Place. Cid knows Leota to be a loving caring person who loved life and her children. They spent countless years together. Cid was Leotas best friend and partner.

Leota leaves behind her brothers which include Ernest Taylor, Donald Taylor, the late Clarence Taylor, Roberts Taylor, and Charles Taylor. Her sisters the late Yvonne Jones, Velma Taylor, Henrietta (Louise) Roberts and the late Cheryl Roberts. Her daughters Anna, Karen, Telissa, and Starr. Her grandchildren Parish, Bianca, Alex, Jahmari, Anthony, Joshua, Jayden, and Jahseni and a host of nephews and nieces.

As my mother always used to say,

“Oh well life goes on”
